Hi, very rare poster here but this is the best place I can think of to reassure me about my husband's positive Covid19 result. He's mid 50s and very overweight and I'm finding it very hard to keep calm. He doesn't know how worried I am, I don't need to add to his fears. He's currently on day 5, feels mildly unwell but nothing that would usually cause him to take time off work or causing alarm. Is there any way he can escape with a mild case or does his age and weight guard that there is worse ahead? Thank you for reading.

Loads of people have very mild disease even if on paper they seem high risk. In all likelihood he'll be completely fine. Maybe buy an oximeter so that you can reassure yourself if his breathing deteriorates and it's not too late to give him a big dose of vitamin D3 if he's not already taking it. 60,000IU a day for a week should be safe and has been shown to reduce disease severity.

Plenty of people in their 70s, 80s and 90s have had the virus with little or no problems or even symptoms.

A lot of over weight people have barely noticed they had it.

You need to try and not stress about it. Easy for me to say I know but most people are perfectly fine and surprised when they get a positive test result. Plenty of teachers and students at our local London based schools have had covid yet none had issues. It is very rare too and even more so for a fifty something to die.

Enjoy him being off work and relax Flowers

Thank you, he has been taking vit D since he began working at home (not getting out in daylight at all) but I will check the strength of the tablets
