Isolation question

nomorename · 18/12/2020 22:10

Sorry if this has been done but can't find it.

I came into contact with somebody who's positive and in 10 days isolation. Do those 10 days count the day of contact or the day after. So if I saw him on the Thursday is Thursday day 1 or Friday day 1?

I'm waiting for test results so may be irrelevant but holding out hope!

Thanks

The government website gives an example of the first day of 15th, so you are out of quarantine at midnight on 25th. The first day is day 0, I think.

I don't know for certain, but I would say you should have started to self isolate on Thursday (if you knew on Thursday that you had come into contact with someone who has COVID).

Did you know on Thursday that they have COVID? Or did you only find out on Friday?

I found out late on Friday, so isolated from then onwards once I was contacted by track and trace

It won't matter what your test result is as you will still have to isolate for 10 days. Not sure if day of contact is day 1 or day 0

nomorename · 18/12/2020 22:18

Yes, I know I will have to do at least the 10 days regardless of my own test outcome, however the government website says "isolate from the day you were last in contact with them" so is that classed as the Thursday as day 0 or day 1?

You have to isolate even if the test comes back negative if you are a close contact. Sorry!

dementedpixie · 18/12/2020 22:21

Found this:

Your isolation period includes the day the first person in your household’ssymptomsstarted (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms, whether this was anLFDorPCRtest), and the next 10 full days. This means that if, for example, your 10 day isolation period starts on the 15th of the month, your isolation period ends at 23:59 hrs on the 25th and you can return to your normal routine.

@dementedpixie thank you!!

I am aware I have to isolate for AT LEAST 10 days, REGARDLESS of my result... as I have now said twice Hmm

No need for the face. We both posted at the same time, I am not a mind reader!

It was clear from my first post and wasn't what I asked you see....
