School testing - what happens if

Parents don't consent to the test and/or students refuse on the day? As I understand it schools can't refuse education?

Students or staff who have recovered from known Covid but are still showing a positive test - likely for up to 90 days?

Kids that have been in close contact with an infected person either test daily or have to self isolate. (Is the theory).

DailyPotion · 18/12/2020 08:38

Yes, but what about the weekly testing for
non contacts? If they refuse, presumably they stay in school untested?

If the pupil is a contact, then presumably they have to SI instead and school will have to support them just as they would have to support any SI pupil (eg if isolating because of a non-school exposure)

If it's population surveillance testing (asymptomatic, no known contact) then they can just carry on without being tested

Or at least that's what I think will happen. This clusterfuck of a policy (the testing rather than isolating bit) is so full of holes that I wouldn't be surprised if we had a few more changes over the course of the hols

I'm sure there'll be changes. Our LA have told us to do nothing for now, while they seek clarification.

It's the positive test for recovered staff that bothers me. Plus the confidentiality issue.

So, I am currently in bed with Covid. I fully expect to be well enough to return following my isolation, but I am likely to test positive for quite a while (apparently).

At my first test, I return a positive result. Does that mean I can't be in school? I doubt it, if it did, schools won't be reopening. However, if my colleagues know I'm still testing positive, no matter what they're told about the contagious period passing, they're going to be nervous. And, tbf, how do you know you're testing positive because of an old infection, not a new one?

I really wouldn't worry about it, can't see many refusing.

You must work with a different kind of teenager to me then.

But it's the testing positive for up to 90 days, that bothers me most . I don't know how we'll have any staff in.
