Eldest DS is at university in tier 3, he has had a Covid test through uni and is due another one tomorrow, he was then coming back home, we are tier 2.

Last night younger ds received a Covid alert and has to isolate until Xmas eve, he has already had a bad case of Covid beginning of April but realises he must isolate again.

To further complicate matters university flatmate of eldest also received a Covid isolate alert 5 days ago.

Confused as to what we should do ,ds has been depressed and is on Sertraline and was looking forward to coming home.

Continue as planned

Mumblechum0 · 17/12/2020 15:52

My heart would say he should come home.

My head would argue but I'm afraid if your ds's mental health is suffering, that should take priority.

junglepie · 17/12/2020 15:53

Your ds should return home as planned. No reason for him not to. He has not been in contact with a positive case and is not isolating.

TheDailyCarbuncle · 17/12/2020 15:53

He can come home. He doesn't have to isolate at all as he has had no covid contact.

HotSince63 · 17/12/2020 15:54

I would bring my son home, it wouldn't even cross my mind to do otherwise.

Northernsoullover · 17/12/2020 15:55

I would get him but I would take precautions. Masks, open the car windows. Seat him in the back.

midgebabe · 17/12/2020 15:55

He should isolate as much as possible now from his flat mates etc and come home as planned. Perhaps Self isolate at home if you have cev in the house

RadoxBubbles · 17/12/2020 15:59

Bring him home. I’ve seen first hand the effects covid has caused to mental health and it’s not pretty. The hidden (human) costs of covid are going to become more apparent as time goes on and the costs will be high.

Thank you all, i have every intention of bringng him back and you have all reassured me that i am right to do that.

I was just worried in case a friend of mine became aware of our situation as she reported her neighbours back in the Summer.

Bring him home as planned.

My student DD3 came home a few days ago. She had several Covid 19 tests as required by her uni over the last half of the term, all negative thankfully, but even if they weren't there is no way I would leave her there with the isolation period that would now run into Christmas week. She has significant mental health issues, so could count as a vulnerable person, as could your DS. There is provision for that.
