Hello all

So I've just booked a Covid test.
I'm feeling absolutely BOILING hot and hot to the touch, my face is bright red and clammy..

The strange thing, is that I feel SO unbearably sick. I feel nauseated like never before. Is this a symptom?! I called 119 and they said I will need to book a test due to my fever.

Any guidance..? I'm scared 😢

Did you take your temperature? A fever is usually characterised by feeling shivery / freezing cold (which is your body's mechanism of increasing your body temp to fight a virus). Feeling hot/sweaty is what happens when your temp comes down.

@Tfoot75 I sadly don't have a thermometer. I'm currently self isolating after receiving a notification to do so from the track and trace app last Saturday. I feel so cold and then so hot. can't freely describe it.

I'm dreading the test, as I'm already feeling very sick and don't want to throw up 😭

My DS was positive and all that happened with him was a sore stomach and feeling sick. He didn't have a temp though.

The test is horrible and made me gag anyway so I would take a bowl or something, sorry! But it is over quickly. DS never actually threw up but he's only little so didn't need to have the back of his throat swabbed.

Good luck.

Don’t worry nausea isn’t uncommon. I felt sick the first day, almost vomited when swabbing myself! Then nausea eased off only to come back later. I had a day of horrible D&V then it stopped and I’m back to fever and exhaustion and muscle pain. Never really had a cough. Chest is tight but I’m too tired to cough.

I swab lots of patients and 90% gag, quite a few vomit, it will be ok.
