Plumber over yesterday for standard boiler service also for bathroom quote.

Plumber has just called this morning to advise his workmate has tested positive this morning whom he spent yesterday morning with before coming here.

Ive tried googling the next steps for us now - i assume self isolation?

Isolate until you get a test and results, if it comes back negative your ok.

That’s not the actual advice. As you’re a contact of a contact, you don’t officially have to self isolate. Of course you can choose to if you want to. Having a test would be pointless.

Nothing. Your plumber has to isolate.
Testing would be pointless... It wouldn't have had to incubate in the plumber, let alone you.

Only thing I would do would be to avoid extremely vulnerable people.

FlipperSkipper · 17/12/2020 10:57

If you’ve not had contact with the person who has tested positive then you don’t need to isolate.

Also if you have had direct contact with a positive case then a negative test does not mean you don’t have to isolate as you could still develop COVID.

Perfect - thanks all.

Your plumber has to self-isolate at the moment, not you. If he subsequently tests positive within 48 hours of his contact with you, only then would you need to self-isolate.

Frazzled2207 · 17/12/2020 13:58

you're a contact of a contact so no need to do anything. However if it turns out the plumber gets sick less than 48 hours after seeing you then you should self-isolate

Lifeispassingby · 17/12/2020 14:01

You don’t need to do anything and please ignore the pp who told you to test- even your plumber who had direct contact with his workmate doesn’t need a test so you definitely don’t. If your plumber has any symptoms today or tomorrow he needs to let you know and get a test and if it’s positive then you will need to isolate
