OK so at what point do I need to "do" something?

I suspect I just have to wait it out.

I have this "mild illness". Started with a very slight tickly cough and a runny nose. Didn't really think it justified a test, but did it to avoid people at work worrying and it was positive.

That was 12 days ago.

I've had a "bad cold" ever since. The cough is hardly anything, the runny nose has been constant. The worst bit is the headache and tiredness. I feel very dry and with the headache and tiredness, it's like an awful 12 day hangover!

Shouldn't I be starting to feel better by now? Technically, I've done my isolation but I'm still in bed!

I coped OK for the first week or so and I don't think it's got worse, it's more the fact that it's not improving is dragging me down, which has seen me take to my bed for the first time today. Up to now I've worked most of each day (at home).

Any tips to help me shift it?

There was a thread on mumsnet a couple of weeks ago for those who have tested positive and your symptoms are exactly what some were saying. Mostly the tiredness and fatigue were the biggest, followed by still coughing, aches and pains and headaches, some still have a temperature after isolation. Give yourself more time and if you work only go back when you feel you are up to it. Many have said it’s a slow progress. If your chest was tight and crackling, maybe a call to doctors may help, but otherwise it’s just down to recovering slowly.

I think you just have to wait it out. Rest as much as possible, the people I know who have recovered quickest have just taken the time to rest, whereas others who have pushed themselves, carried on work or exercising at home, have seemed to take longer to get over it. So treat it like you would the flu, plenty of rest, fluids, nutritious food and relaxation and hopefully you'll feel better soon. Obviously if your symptoms deteriorate, you have a fever that worsens or your breathing becomes difficult then get medical attention

I imagine that you need to rest and that continuing to work has just prolonged it as with any virus. Don't feel guilty. Rest up and get better soon.

I wonder? When I say "worked" I mean I've kept on top of email , done my staff's end of year appraisals and attended some virtual meetings. I haven't done anything very taxing.

I have had a very poorly DH (not Covid) to look after though, that's probably where the stress is.

Hi
Just come to see if anyone else is still feeling the same. I am on day 10 and still bunged up, heady and feel sicky. Wanted to see if others felt the same too

Remember, the isolation period of ten days doesn't mean you should only feel ill for that long, it just means that's when you stop being infectious.

Take it easy as much as you can (stop working, buy instant Christmas dinner, see if there's anyone who can help you with DH).

Have you been taking vitamin D supplements this winter OP? If yes, what dose?

No, I'm cross. I knew I should and I bought some but haven't been very good about taking them.

A friend of mine has had it, was off worke & said the main thing was the overwhelming tiredness.

It might be worth stocking up on dioralyte and some vitamin supplements to help you properly hydrate and restore any vitamin stores that might have been depleted in your illness. Have you been eating properly?

Personally I would give the GP a call to see what the current recommendations are for recovery and see if there’s anything they can suggest, particularly as you have caring responsibilities and need to be fit enough. I wouldn’t be too concerned if you didn’t though.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers
