Possible exposure and anxiety ...any advice?

Namechanged as this could be quite outing.

I look after a friend’s ds as part of her childcare bubble. Child was tired and quiet yesterday but no symptoms of anything.

His mum has text me this morning to say he is now unwell with and D+V bug and also has a rash. She called 119 who said she doesn’t need a test as her DS doesn’t have any testable symptoms, although I know from others locally that these symptoms are quite common in little ones (he’s 5).

The rest of the class (where DS has been Monday and Tuesday) are going to continue to mix the rest of the week in class. Nobody will be isolating as he’s not getting a test.

Anything we can do to minimize risk of catching it? We had windows open while he was here (as they do at school) and I have cleaned everything he touched yesterday but me and my dc were in very close contact with him yesterday (me for about 10mins inside.) Would this fall into the ‘okay because it’s less than 15 mins’ or should we now be isolating? (Seems silly to be asking as technically he hasn’t tested positive so is very much a very big what if). Confused

He doesn't have covid symptoms, just normal poorly child symptoms. Put it into perspective

I know of atleast 3 children locally to me who have tested positive in the last 2 weeks with exactly these symptoms. Confused

If you’re genuinely worried then probably best to isolate.

"should we now be isolating"

Isolating would not be a rational choice. You weren't exposed long enough to anyone who had known covid or covid-distinct symptoms. If you want to make up extra rules to live by, nobody will stop you.
