Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said 137,897 people have received the Pfizer jab so far, including 108,000 in England, 18,000 in Scotland, 7,897 in Wales and 4,000 in Northern Ireland.

Brilliant news

RememberSelfCompassion · 16/12/2020 10:39

Ow that's fab! I selfishly want to know when group 6 are up!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 16/12/2020 10:42

Should pick up more to as GPs are getting the vaccine delivered

Great news. We should all take a minute's break from the government and/or scientist bashing (delete as appropriate) to be thankful that, despite many errors of judgement, we seem to be ahead of many other countries in our vaccination schedule. The end is in sight!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 16/12/2020 10:47

Umm I wonder if there is a way of assessing how far through the groups they are getting?

You can tell over 80 and NHS and carers are getting done at present because all the posters on the site saying they are that group.

Suppose in rural areas or small communities they would have to use up all the vaccine delivered. Therefore vaccinate over groups if left over stock. It may depend on where you live in the end. I don't know.

Oh this is a lot more than I thought. Great news. I wonder how far through the group they are at? My friend is care home staff and had hers.

lunar1 · 16/12/2020 10:53

Some of my friends, NHS but not vulnerable have been vaccinated. Purely because of the logistics of the vaccine. They are there and they are making sure nothing is wasted.

We have a long way to go, but at least we have some progress now.

PrivateD00r · 16/12/2020 10:55

It isn't cut and dry, they can overlap groups if necessary. So there is no way of knowing when any individual can expect to get it, but they will get it which for now is brilliant Smile

middleager · 16/12/2020 10:59

A poster on another thread said her relative in group 2 has been called (sorry not sure if this also over 80s, FIL, 84 is having his this week).

Em777 · 16/12/2020 11:13

The NAO have released a report stating that NHS England and NHS Improvement "is planning on the assumption it could vaccinate up to 25 million people with two doses throughout 2021".

news.sky.com/story/covid-19-less-than-half-of-uk-population-could-be-vaccinated-in-2021-spending-watchdog-says-12162805

So most people will still be waiting until 2022.

Very disappointing news.

I also feel disappointed really at this news. In the job I do and with DC at school it now seems inevitable I will get the virus for a second time. Am in west mids and none of my relatives over 80 have been contacted yet.
RememberSelfCompassion · 16/12/2020 11:35

Oh. I'm vulnerable and my body is so clapped out. With my kids in school I was hoping once I had the vaccine I could relax. Could be a while....🙄

lunar1 · 16/12/2020 11:45

If this is a yearly vaccine like flu it's never going to get to the everyone else group until it becomes optional to pay for it.

middleager · 16/12/2020 12:09

Favouritemy FIL in his 80s lives in Birmingham and is having his vaccine this week. There was a list on Birmingham Live about which parts of the West Mids were getting the vaccine first, if you can check?

Thanks @middleager i will take a look

Once the supplies come in, in larger quantities and when the huge vaccine hubs are set up, I am hopeful that everyone that wants the vaccine, will get it.
