Very mild vague symptoms - COVID risk to others?

I have been feeling just a bit below par for a few days, but nothing to justify a test using the official “flow chart”. I’m not concerned with how I personally feel as I’m clearly not particularly ill; my worry is purely that I could be virtually asymptomatic but transmit COVID19 to others. I’m normally fit and well. Since Sunday I’ve had mild intermittent headaches and a sensation of a slightly tight chest as if I’m about to come down with a cough, but I don’t. I’ve occasionally felt very slightly shivery but don’t appear to have a fever (no thermometer but don’t feel hot to the touch). I have no normal cold-type symptoms such as runny nose or sore throat.

I live alone and have been going into work (NHS office, in a room on my own but see colleagues, all of us in masks and socially distancing). My manager is not on site but could be contacted by phone. I’m in a support bubble with a partner I don’t live with and he is clinically vulnerable. I haven’t seen him since the weekend but am due to this evening. Although there are asymptomatic staff testing facilities in my trust, these are not on my site and are drive-through. I don’t drive and don’t feel able to put my partner or anyone else at risk by asking for a lift. There are walk-through facilities in my town, but I would have to lie about my symptoms to fit the criteria.

Any advice please? Basically I just feel stupid and as if I’m being a hypochondriac. Normally I have no worries about my health and I wouldn’t worry now except for the infection risk.

I think the first thing you should do is buy or order a thermometer for home use. I presumed all NHS staff would know this!

Arguably 'hot to touch' is as reliable but you don't say who is actually carrying this out.

Speak to your manager. As NHS staff, even if not front line, they may wish for you to have a test.

I reported it and was asked to self-isolate pending the result of a test which has been organised. Thanks.

Just coming in to say delay seeing your partner and see if you can get tested. If you are lucky you've got a v mild case of COVID, done by Christmas and hopefully with some level of immunity for the next few months.

Feeling shivery sounds very like a temperature to me.

Yes, as mentioned I went straight home as soon as instructed and arranged a test likewise. I will not be seeing anyone at all until cleared.
