Just listening to radio four, and they're talking about government using emergency laws to stop "schools closing" and to keep teaching:then they refer to the LA advice to go to remote learning. So how are the government getting away with painting this as schools with children physically in Vs no education at all?! It's such a transparent use of misleading language!

I heard this OP. Not surprising for the Today programme really though is it? Did you hear the 'one day of missed school equivalent to 40, 000 hours of child education?' left completely unchallenged... 🙄

I wondered about that "education year"!! Is it like dog years? Definitely sounded like trying to get a massive number, devoid of context, when I'd have thought the individual day/s lost to a child should be seen on their education, rather than some cumulative figure?
