New COVID Variant in South-East

Just seen the breaking news about the new COVID variant in the South East.

Seems to be nothing to worry about on the face of it...but wondering if anyone has / knows of any more info?

Personally I dont think it was a scaremongering tactic I think it was burying news tactic. Rather than have the focus on schools and the fact that clearly lockdown followed by tier 2 doesnt work with High Schools being open they buried the lead by focusing on the new variant

Think Wancock has been deliberately pulling out the scare tactics. He gives plenty of mays, coulds and possiblys but no actual tangible data.

@Quartz2208 I dont know if its the same everywhere but local businesses here were starting to wake up to the fact that they were closed during the November lockdown to deflect from whats happening/has been happening in the schools.
