Please tell me that if positive result, the gov or nhs will notify school? Or is it left to parent to tell school?

Left to the parent / carer.

I work in a small independent school. We're relying on parents notifying us re positive or negative tests, preferably with email evidence. Not had the Gov or NHS make contact with us although and this may be relevant, we've not so far had any cases on-site.
So, we've sent children home with symptoms, they've had a test which has been negative. We've also had children test positive who fortunately didn't come back in after half term, so our institution has so far managed to stay infection free.
I have to complete a daily Gov return detailing any isolations, suspected cases or positive cases for pupils and staff. No names, just numbers.
My son's secondary school are also asking parents to inform them of any pupil or family cases.

Parent has to tell school. It tells you to do that on the text/email you get when you have a positive test.

But also when I took dd for a test, one of the questions I had to fill in online was the name of any school/nursery she attended - so i wondered if t & t also did
(She was negative)

Parent. Gvmt or nhs have no time or ability to do that.

I told the school, but track and trace also alerted my sons school. But I think its mainly up to the parents.

We told our school on a Sunday evening. There were two others who were infected in the same secondary school class, who got their results before us over the weekend (it was on my child's WhatsApp chat) . I emailed the letters across.

School also works with local PHE as we received a call from them the next day, along with the repeated calls from the NHS.

Teacher here, we have only been told by parents no one official despite the fact that you put this information on the test request form. Same for staff actually, we have never been officially notified when they test positive

My other child attends a different secondary, so I emailed them that evening with his letter to inform them that he was self isolating.

At both our secondary schools children are still being sent in to school following positive tests, both on themselves and on family members.

School has had to keep writing out to parents about this.

We have to rely on the parents for everything, which is why we have numerous children sent in whilst waiting for a test for them or their family members. We've recently had one absent long enough without any contact to trigger a home visit; turn out they were positive. Well, they would have been isolating anyway as we'd just had another 4 in the same year group/social groups test positive. Third time that has happened now Hmm

In Scotland it’s both. Or it was for us. We told the school but then Test and Trace also got in touch with them and advised on timings etc.

Left to the parent and yes, it’s a bit of a worry. I’m a teacher and 28 weeks pregnant. I work 4 days a week, don’t work Mondays. On Monday all of my class (Year 2) were at school. I was back Tuesday when all the children were in except one girl due to her being a close contact of a family member who tested positive. Same on Weds. on Thurs the parent phoned- the child had tested positive. All of my class are close contacts but not me, because of the Monday! Anyway the class are now isolating (I’m setting work and responding online on Google Classroom) but I do worry that if any of the others came out in symptoms now, the parents wound just think “oh well they’re off school for 2 weeks now anyway”. But really I need do know, as from the Tuesday I’d also be a close contact!

In Scotland parent should notify school. If they dont it will however be noticed and acted on by test and protect, it just might take a couple of days
