Testing positive after 14 days?

My cousin works in a care home & is routinely tested. She tested positive a couple weeks ago. Only symptoms being a runny nose & feeling a bit warm. She’s felt under the weather but OK & been isolating. Her employer made her test again before her return after 14 days. She’s tested positive again & no-one seems to know what to do or what the legalities are. She’s very conscious of not infecting her elderly residents but her employer says it’s fine. She’s also been re-contacted by T&T who also seemed unsure but said they thought another 10 days isolation Confused & her household another 14 days! Her husbands employer has hit the roof. He’s had no symptoms at all & tested negative a couple days after her initial test (yes, I know he shouldn’t have tested. Don’t shoot the messenger).

What’s protocol here? He wants to go to work but they can’t afford a huge fine. She doesn’t want to work if still infectious but isn’t trying to shy away from work. Confused

But I thought people who test positive are not supposed to retest within 90 days as they can still be shedding the virus. Why has her company retested her?

She shouldn't have had another test for 90 days from the first test, due to the sensitivity levels. Her work shouldn't have told her to have one, but should have just allowed her to return post symptoms or post 10 days, whichever is the latter. Her family shouldn't have to isolate beyond the initial 14 day period (10 days if isolating after next Monday). Test and Trace should have advised this, but don't seem to have a deep and consistent grasp of the rules.

In an area where they're asking people to come forward to get tested as part of a government project, they're asking people not to come forward within 90 days of a positive test.
In the case of several young people who ended up in solitary confinement in italy, the PCR test was picking up dead fragments of virus for months.

No idea. They just said she had too 🤷🏼‍♀️ they are testing all staff every week, including those who have had covid apparently. She’s the first to have had another positive. And now no-one knows whether she should legally stay at home, morally stay at home or just all get back to work .. she video called me in tears today as it’s a struggle financially for them when they can’t work. I was hoping maybe someone may have had a similar experience etc so I could reassure her 😕

Shouldn't be tested again within 90 days unless they have symptoms

And here's the info on the .gov website. Maybe she should direct her employer to read it
