Ok so putting aside the argument that Northern kids have clearly been completely ignored here, despite suffering repeated self-isolations for months.
I don't disagree with the principle but who in their right minds is going to agree to their kid being tested when there is a risk of being self isolated for christmas, not just for their own kid but the whole class.
Surely just closing the schools for the last week of term (except perhaps exam children) would be more effective if they really think it is spreading in schools.
If there are any parents in the affected schools/areas I'd really like to hear what you think and if you think it's reasomable.

In a London borough. Email received this morning. My secondary school dd and rest of family asked to go and get tested either today, tomorrow or Monday. They have set up three testing places. Says there may be queues. No kidding. Likely to be mobbed. We also have the option of asking for a home test which we will be doing. So it has been set up very very quickly

Does anybody have any links to find out what sort of % of people who have had a positive Sars Cov 2 result but displayed no symptoms have infected others, particularly family members.

Or have have any of you personally been affected this way. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s very likely the rest of the family could become infected if one of us displayed no symptoms,

My friend has a child in a hard hit school in Warwickshire where the school was asked in conjunction withthe LA to test some classes of students.

My friends were surprised to find their secondary school child tested positive (along with others) because she was asymptomatic. Therefore, they didn't actually know when she'd contracted it.

The other three family members did not catch it. She had her own bathroom and wasn't allowed in the kitchen, but the family mixed as normal in other communal areas and sat down to watch TV etc.

One of my teens caught Covid at their secondary school. They did have symptoms.

None of the other three of us caught it, but we went to great pains to avoid it and I'm not sure I'd do that next time.
