Can you be fined from driving from one tier 3 area to another about an hour and a half away.
Thanks in advance.

Potentially unless for work, education or caring reasons.

dementedpixie · 11/12/2020 16:27

Depends why you are travelling there

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 11/12/2020 16:28

No, the covid legislation does not mention travel. It is legal to travel between any tier for any reason.

To meet a friend outdoors who I’m in a bubble with

Bubbles aren't affected by tiers

Rosehip10 · 11/12/2020 16:38

@LIZS Stop making up "laws" - the travel from/to tiers is guidance only.

mumwalk · 11/12/2020 16:54

Depends where you live, it's law in Scotland.

Arnoldthecat · 11/12/2020 16:57

I travelled from tier 3 to tier 2 the other day to do some shopping in the M&S megastore and then adjourned to their cafe for an Americano and a slice of carrot cake. Very nice it was too.

HopeAndDriftWood · 11/12/2020 16:58

It’s against the guidelines, and arguably the spirit of tiers, but it’s not illegal.

PotteringAlong · 11/12/2020 17:00

If you’re in a bubble the tier regulations don’t apply and you can travel

Hayeahnobut · 11/12/2020 17:01

As the OP is in a bubble with the other person, it's not against the guidelines and the tiers are irrelevant.

Changethetoner · 11/12/2020 17:02

Depends where u live.

In Scotland it is law now, no non-essential travel to/from. Essential shopping, work, care and childcare is allowed. Nothing else.

dementedpixie · 11/12/2020 17:03

In Scotland if you are in a bubble then its not against the law

dementedpixie · 11/12/2020 17:03

Sorry, extended household is the term I think

Blue1316 · 11/12/2020 17:04

We’re driving to another tier 3 area tomorrow as we have a Christmas day out booked which is still going ahead. Travel between tiers is guidance not law so you can’t be stopped by the police, fined etc

WitchDancer · 11/12/2020 17:10

You can travel to someone in your bubble - we cross into another area to get to my mum who is in our bubble, so I checked the guidance carefully to ensure we weren't breaking any rules.

mumwalk · 11/12/2020 17:27

@dementedpixie Absolutely, I missed the OP's update on her bubble.

TheGreatWave · 11/12/2020 17:58

I do and will be traveling between areas. All tier 3, work and our closest shops are all in a different area.

Hapixmas · 11/12/2020 19:43

I'll be honest I've still, to this day, never seen police anywhere on journeys.
