Uni let her back in despite housemate being positive???

A friend lives in a house share situation. Her housemate tested positive so she isolated. Then a few days later she came down with symptoms so got a covid test. Her test came back negative so she started going out and about again - and went back into university. This isn't right surely? I thought the government advice was to continue isolating for 14 days if you live with someone who has tested positive?

It is. She may have tested too early and is now potentially spreading covid around.

Yes she should have continued isolating until her 14 days had passed as she was a contact of a positive case

That's what I was saying @Livedandlearned - that I don't think it's right she's back in university as she may have tested too early.

She should have isolated for 14 days. What has her uni got to do with it? Did they give her that advice?

Very worried that university is allowing this sort of thing to happen. We are healthcare too so bit concerning they're not more aware of the rules! I know about my friend but goodness knows who else has been in this situation and just not mentioned it!

@InDubiousBattle my point with university is that she told them the situation and they let her come back in. We are a small course where the tutors know everyone, they've been very stern (as they should be) with asking us if we have symptoms, temperature checking us on arrival etc and yet now they're fine with letting her come back in.

That surely isn't right... Very concerning that the uni isn't taking it more seriously!!

At my sister's uni she said that in their lectures they are social distanced anyway with a certain amount of seats inbetween them and still have to wear masks.

I wonder if the uni that you are talking about is the same, and they therefore think it doesn't really matter as she won't be close to anyone else? Still, I wouldn't feel very protected if I was one of the other students 🙄

She probably just says she had symptoms and tested negative. Leaving out the contact/living situation

@keepdistance no she definitely told them about her housemate. She had to miss a session prior to getting symptoms, told them her housemate was positive so was isolating. And then updated them about her symptoms / negative test.
