How many are we going to vaccinate a day?

I guess the number will increase for the next week or so. Does anyone know what number we are aiming for before Christmas?

I'm interested to know, I tried to find out how many had been vaccinated yesterday but couldn't see it anywhere.

They said 5,000 got vaccination yesterday.

I read somewhere that once all the mass centres are up and running they aim for a million a week, but that's going to take some time and needs the Oxford vaccine to be approved.

Did they ever hit their testing target? I'm not sure I trust their numbers.

They had to count one test (throat & nose) as 2 I think to get close to their testing target. Much like when they talked about PPE, one pair of gloves was 2 pieces of PPE.

Sure it’s not a million a day?

I was trying to do some sums on this.... phase 1 is something like 22 million people, 2 shots each that’s 44 million shots. If it was a million a week, they wouldn’t be done until September, but they’re saying they’ll be done before Easter.

We only need to vaccinate care home residents and those over 80 to reduce deaths by about two thirds. That’s under 4 million people. I don’t think they said the whole vaccination program would be over by Easter.

I think they need to have completed the priority list down to at least all priority 4 before we can see any easing of conditions, and that's about 12 million people (though some double counting in that, as many are both care home residents and age priority)

That takes up to about March on 1m a week. Which is when politicians are hinting that the first steps in easing can be taken.

I read a while ago they were aiming to vaccinate 5000 initially (same figure mentioned above). Obviously this will go up as more centres are available and people trained.

Phase 1 target completion date is end of Spring, so sometime in June (depending on how you define Spring) which is approx 30 million people. So would need an average of over 1 million per week between now and then, multiplied by 2, to include second doses. So, up to 2.5 million vaccinations per week?Seems optimistic?

They reached their target capacity. Whether it was ever taken up is a different matter, as testing is not enforced in the UK.
