Moral Dilema

I have changed my user name as my original is a bit outing to those who know me.

Some work colleagues are planning Christmas lunches within our offices, and it is planned across several sites but could be up 15-20 people in a room sharing food and eating etc.

I don't want to be the grinch, the person that ruined their fun but I have huge concerns about distancing, HSE enforcement officers turning up for a spot check. What if 1 person in the room is positive and we are left 2 weeks later with no staff and a whole caseload of patients to see.

Gov.uk says there should be no xmas parties or lunches.

WWYD - shall I tell my boss or keep quiet. Two people know I know, so if there were issues after the event they could almost certainly say Smoky1107 was aware in which case I'd be in trouble. I won't be attending any of the lunches btw.
Or would you keep quiet and not spoil the fun? edited by MNHQ at OP's request

Tell your boss - I can't believe they're even considering it.

Racoonworld · 09/12/2020 15:05

Definitely tell your boss. You’re H&S, you know about the planned parties, it could be you’re job on the line if it’s found out. Apart from the fact it’s very irresponsible of them to have these parties and given they are NHS should know better.

Yes - I think I do know the answer I just feel like the real grinch :-(. Thank you

You have to say something

Smoky1107 · 09/12/2020 16:59

I have escalated it. I feel I have done the right thing in a work capacity but I also feel dreadful at the same time :-(

Well done, sometimes it’s hard to do the right thing.
