NHS staff - have you been called for the vaccine?

I haven't yet - North Central London. But I can see from some threads on here that some NHS workers are booked in for this week.

I'm patient facing in the community (therapies) so certainly not at the front of the NHS queue but I do have covid +ve people on my caseload, and am doing pretty much all face to face since we're trying to keep to "business as usual".

I can't bloody wait to get the jab!

@bakebeans

So what are your criteria for accepting it?

bakebeans · 08/12/2020 22:20

PaddyF0dder I’ve already said!

bakebeans · 08/12/2020 22:22

timeforawine. It’s still yet to be approved by the FDA. The site you have referenced doesn’t mention it has been approved. A decision is expected on 10th December.

@mrsanflowerpot

DH hasn't yet and DS is ECV. Given up hope we will see DH home over Christmas now (Covid frontline so living in a hotel at the moment) Sad
That's really rubbish for you SadBut, because two doses are needed, no one at all will be covered by Xmas, even those given the first dose today. I hope your husband gets it soonThanks

Our trust opened booking for staff vaccinations today. I'm booked in for early next week.

Mummyme87 · 08/12/2020 22:51

No. I’m a midwife who scored low risk on the risk assessment. High risk will be done first at my trust

MercyBooth · 09/12/2020 03:12

We were very low on uptake today

Might have something to do with the logistics of getting there. Im in Essex and elderly people are being asked if they can get from Braintree to Basildon.

Pomegranatespompom · 09/12/2020 07:15

@Char2015 awful I’d doses will be wasted - of course they should be given to staff if any of that batch left. Surely worse to waste doses.

trulydelicious · 09/12/2020 07:53

@Frazzled2207 @timeforawine @PaddyF0dder

I don't mean to be rude. But you sound as pushy, manipulative and unreasonable as those sometimes referred as 'anti-vaxxers'. Will you behave in the same way in real life also? Will you not let go until you bring people round to your 'acceptable' way of thinking? It's frightening

@bakebeans has already given her reasons and has explained more than enough in my view

And what's with this 'wastage' business and pestering people to go find +80 year old candidates? Vaccines are not a carton of milk that will go off. It's medical treatment and should be taken seriously. If they go to waste maybe those who ordered the doses have miscalculated the potential uptake levels.

Spidey66 · 09/12/2020 07:59

No-north London CPN (working East London). I got excited yesterday, someone rang from th e NHS offering me a vaccine, but it was for flu which I've already had.

gettingolderbutcooler · 09/12/2020 08:01

Nope

PaddyF0dder · 09/12/2020 08:14

@trulydelicious

“It’s frightening”

Oh stop being silly. If you find that frightening, how do you live all day? You must be in a constant state of terror Hmm

Frazzled2207 · 09/12/2020 08:29

@trulydelicious
Vaccines are not a carton of milk that will go off

As I understand it once out of the super cold fridge they have to be used within 5 days and can’t be lit back. So it absolutely does go off. And at £70 a pop, it should be a priority to use as much as possible, even if that means finding younger people (NHS staff most likely)

Frazzled2207 · 09/12/2020 08:30

...and I don’t think (correct me if I’m wrong) hospitals are ordering specific amounts. They are being sent batches of 975 and asked to make the best of it. It might be logistically complicated but most of the 67 million of us would like it very much, please.

Tootsietootie · 09/12/2020 08:34

We are likely to be next round (outpatients at hospital). I'm surprised the paramedics l know aren't higher up the list.
I cannot wait and I fucking hate injections!

That’s my understanding

I think we’ve wasted enough money in this sorry debacle, I don’t want any of this going to waste.

swiftt · 09/12/2020 08:38

I know some community pharmacy staff in another health board who have been able to get booked in (Scotland).

trulydelicious · 09/12/2020 08:49

Yes, I understand that and the cost aspect.

What I'm saying is that they are vaccines and the issue should be taken seriously as it relates to people's health. They should not be peddled as a carton of milk that will go off today if not sold in a supermarket.

maggiso · 09/12/2020 09:08

Neither of the hospitals I work have this vaccine. One is listing patient facing staff who are prepared to have the vaccine sap- I ( some prefer to wait) I presume to avoid wastage if they do get some spare after vaccinating the elderly.
