Anyone with a BMI 40+ had covid and been ok?

My BMI is slightly over 40 down from 43 earlier this year.

DH has symptoms tonight and has booked a test. Reading a thread on here has terrified me that I will be hospitalised and ventilated because of my BMI.

Has anyone with a high BMI been ok?

DH has been segregated now from me since he got home.

@piscis - my brother are sisters are nurses in two different ICU units and they said they have had overweight and young fit people in ICU with Covid.
I think it really is a mixed bag and very much a lottery as to how your body will cope with the Virus x

My brother had it. He's 59 and a big guy, I reckon BMI of around 41. He's also had pneumonia a couple of times and regularly gets bronchitis.
He said he was quite tired for the first week with a nasty cough that kept him awake at night. By the second week he was bored and working from home.

Bakewell hope your son is ok. Loads more have been sent home from my dd's school today it is absolutely rife up there. However, DH seems to have caught it from work in an office unless dd has had no symptoms.

Ponoka sorry you were so poorly but glad you are better.

piscis it is very worrying and a wake up call for us all to be healthier.

Glad you had it mildly scouser.

@piscis

I am sure as other people are saying that you can be fine with your BMI, not everyone responds the same to the virus. However, my sister-in-law is a nurse in a hospital and says that pretty much all younger people in UCI because of COVID are very overweight or obese, that she has never seen someone young and fit in UCI yet. So, definitely a factor.
This is exactly it. Pretty much everyone in ICU on a vent is obese. But that is still a very small proportion of obese people. Only a small % of obese people with covid go to ICU. So overall, there is a very high chance that if you had covid you would remain at home and not be seriously ill. However your chances of needing a vent are higher than someone healthy. I hope that makes sense op!

This should put your mind at rest.

You put your exact circumstances into it and it gives you an accurate measure of your personal covid risk based on current research to date.

Your age will help a lot.
