I do have a post in children’s health.
Dd (14) started having difficulties breathing last light, well I say difficulties, just irregular breathing with slight gasp. I monitored her until I went to bed and she was fine, oxygen levels were a bit up and down but not dangerously low, just enough to indicate something wasn’t right. She slept ok and is now up and awake but still has the weird breathing and saying she feels poorly. Dd has ASD so it’s unusual for her to tell me she’s poorly and usually she says she’s ok as she wants to go to school. Obviously she’s staying home and I have booked a covid test at 10am though she doesn’t have the main symptoms (not cough, no temp). I’m guessing a gp won’t see her until she’s had a covid test?

I'd say it would be unusual to start with breathing difficulties with COVID, for most people they start around day 7. Is it possible that your dd has had other, more minor symptoms eg slight temperature, sore throat, headache, lethargy and not mentioned it?

Anyway, testing is the right thing to do. Hopefully it you'll get a negative back quickly.

Yes, it’s possible as she doesn’t really tell me if she’s unwell, she just soldiers on unless she’s really unwell. Only thing I have noticed is she hasn’t been eating much, she usually eats anything and everything but has been leaving half her dinner so it’s possible her taste hasn’t been right?

I’m really hoping it’s a negative as I could do with her back at school before Christmas 🤣, I don’t want a 4 week Christmas break.

Loss of appetite can certainly be a symptom of covid, particularly in children.
