So happy about support bubble expansion

It’s been a hard year with everything and had a baby in lockdown so no support or help for us. I was on the brink of breaking down with no end to this in sight and not having had any time off for myself. With the new support bubble rules we formed a bubble with friends who also have a young baby and got to see them properly today. For the first time since covid happened I’m actually happy, it’s made such a difference being able to see someone inside and seeing the babies together was so lovely. Not much point to this thread just really thankful and happy right now.

That's lovely I'm glad it's helped you.

Same here, I hadnt realised the difference it would make to my life until I sat in a cafe with my friend and had a coffee with the babies, it was wonderful. I strongly believe it should be under 3s though, my toddler is harder work by far than the baby Hmm

That’s brilliant to hear, I’m glad it has helped you.
Mine is 22 months. No support bubble and I’m at breaking point.

It's such a small thing really isn't it but helps so much! I'm glad it has helped you too.

Sorry, It's sad that older babies can't have one too. Are you able to put your baby in nursery at all so you can have some sort of break in the week?

Unfortunately not, the company I work(ed) for has folded due to Covid and I was made redundant, so we can’t afford it. DH working 12 hour days.

Northernbeachbum · 06/12/2020 21:04

@alwaysbehindthecurve it's been so so tough with a toddler hasnt it! My DH works similar hours and DC1 has only just gone back to nursery. He was supposed to be off while I was on maternity but I couldnt cope any longer

I really feel it should have been under 3s so those with no entitlement to funded nursery time

Xtfc123 · 06/12/2020 21:05

I think it should be a support bubble between two housesholds like Wales have

Northernbeachbum · 06/12/2020 21:13

@Xtfc123 yes that would be far better actually!

I agree it should have been for under 3s! Would make much more sense.
