Anyone else up and down? ‘Post Covid’

I’ve recently ‘recovered’ from Covid - was really poorly for about 2 weeks (not hospital level poorly but probably the worst I’ve ever felt for that length of time)

I’ve been back at work (WFH) this week and I’ve found it draining. I have had a slightly busier couple of days (first time in about a month!!) where i went out for a longer walk, bought a few Christmas decorations etc. I feel absolutely floored again today. Completely lethargic.

I’m worried this is turning into ‘long covid’. Has anyone else experienced the same?

I know there are people with much worse lasting effects like respiratory issues etc. I know I’m a relatively mild case but I have a busy life! I can’t be like this every time I leave the house for more than a few hours Sad

Just to say you're not alone OP. Thanks

I'm only two weeks post-positive test but was feeling much more normal the past day or two so decided to go and do normal things yesterday (only a brief trip to buy the Xmas tree and a half mile round walk to the park) and then paid for it last night with awful fatigue, a nasty headache, nausea and then vomiting. 🤦‍♀️

Still feeling crap today. It feels very much one step forwards, five two steps back.

Everything I've read (on my FB/Google 'researching' says that it's key to continue to rest in these fairly early days, as your body is still likely getting over Covid.

Interested to read others experiences. Take care and hope you feel more back to normal you soon.

Sorry to hear that and it sounds very similar - hope you are feeling better soon Flowers

The worst is I’ve known a few people recently who have had Covid but barely any symptoms (i.e just loss of taste) and they had no change to their life apart from self isolating. It almost feels like I’m making it up or I’m being OTT but it really is awful for some people!!

You're not alone and I'm sorry you are still struggling x

I'm a few weeks in now, a couple of months. I was in hospital for a short time and was off work for seven weeks. But I'm still so tired and get breathless so quickly. By the time I get home from work I'm fit for nothing, some days I'm too tired to even eat. Dh has ended up doing much more of the household chores and meals in recent weeks as I just can't manage.

So sorry to hear that @Aragog and sounds like you’ve had a really bad time of it.

So many people spewing the fact that it’s ‘a bit of a cold’ when it’s a horrible, unknown virus and we have no way of knowing how it will affect people.

I this is a key message. People seem to be being affected in so many different ways.

I am pretty much recovered from long COVID now after 8 months. Tbh most of you sound like you are in the realms of post viral fatigue- this is pretty common and doesnt necessarily mean you'll end up with long COVID, so dont despairjust yet. . I would really urge you to listen to your bodies and take things easy, pace yourselves, build exercise levels back up gradually. It's really hard to do if you are used to be active but it pays off.

My fatigue was gone after 3 months but it was 5 before my fitness levels were back to normal. And fatigue wasnt really a main symptom for me.

magnarocks · 07/12/2020 09:46

That's reassuring @Porcupineinwaiting, thanks for replying.

I think I need to seriously reduce my expectations of what I 'should' be able to do by now.

trader21c · 07/12/2020 11:06

Porcupine thanks for that useful advice I am used to being very active pre Covid but I will be taking any return to fitness very gradually indeed and reduce my expectations

SushiGo · 07/12/2020 13:14

I had mild symptoms ie breathlessness but no need for hospital, and took a fair few weeks to feel well enough for exercise. The first walk to the shops totally wiped me out!

It's definitely not long covid though, I feel fine now several months later.

I hope you feel better soon.

Kitcat122 · 07/12/2020 16:40

My advice is rest rest rest! I was very fit and active before Covid and kept trying to exercise and get back to normal and took steps backwards every time. It's a nasty virus for some of us and recovery is slower than expected.

trader21c · 07/12/2020 18:50

Kitkat thanks for this useful advice how long long did it take you to get better?
