Anyone live here? What do you reckon our chances are for moving down a tier on the 16th? Obviously when the tiers were decided, we had quite high numbers but they were always dropping and since the tier system actually started on weds, they've been dropping quite low! We are now at less cases per 100k than Gloucester who is in tier 2.
Really hoping we move down to tier 2 so cafes and pubs can open to try get a few people eating out over December!

I'm in Bristol and hoping we'll go into tier 2 at the next review.

pourmeanotherglass · 06/12/2020 09:50

Me too, the numbers have dropped from over 400 per 100k to under 200, so Im hoping we might be able to drop to tier 2.

Mindymomo · 06/12/2020 10:04

Hospital admissions have to fall as well, have you had a look at your local admissions over the last week. We are in Surrey, tier 2, but our cases are rising in both local cases and hospital admissions.

Keepdistance · 06/12/2020 10:29

I dont know but i do know the overall situation wont behelped by a soft play i know of in T2 encouraging people from bristol and other t3 to go.
Also may depend on the students going home

Hapixmas · 06/12/2020 10:29

Thanks @Mindymomo that is what I was hoping to also find out with this thread. I didn't know where I could find that information myself.
My local news covers 17 areas and all of the cases are dropping. Not sure about hospital admissions though.

Hapixmas · 06/12/2020 10:31

@Keepdistance I totally agree. I am not sure if we are allowed to name businesses but I am assuming you are talking about the soft play O A?
I saw that post and was surprised they were encouraging people from Bristol to go to their soft play!

Some areas are still pretty terrible sadly. I just picked one at random and it has approx 300 per 100k.

Hapixmas · 06/12/2020 11:11

In Bristol @notevenat20 ?

I just went on that BBC article where you tap in your postcode, it covers bristol as a whole, so the average is 166 per 100k.

Is it bishopsworth and Easton that are still high? Can't find where to find a breakdown.

OverTheRainbow88 · 06/12/2020 11:12

I think we may go to tier 2 and then back to 3 when students return in jan!!

OverTheRainbow88 · 06/12/2020 11:14

I saw that about OA as well!!

notevenat20 · 06/12/2020 11:16

In Bristol @notevenat20?

Yes. Try Bishopston for example.

Hapixmas · 06/12/2020 11:27

Sorry I meant Bishopston not bishopsworth! I will try to find figures.

OP posts:
mumsneedwine · 06/12/2020 11:30

@OverTheRainbow88 students will al be tested. Cases in Uni down to at most 1 a day now. 🤞 when they return the same will happen.

Weedsnseeds1 · 06/12/2020 11:33

I'm in N Somerset, our numbers are lower than Bristol (and a lot of tier 2 places) and we are tier 3 as well.

notevenat20 · 06/12/2020 12:21

Here is an example of high rates in Bristol.

notevenat20 · 06/12/2020 12:22

coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

In n somerset weston uphill is pretty high

With the review 16th they might relax it as schools stop 18th i think.
Imo not hugely wise to open pubs up before families mix though.t

New year could be a big spread too

ILoveYourLittleHat · 06/12/2020 13:26

You can zoom into the map to see smaller districts op.

OverTheRainbow88 · 06/12/2020 13:30

Downend looks like it’s 400+ cases

ILoveYourLittleHat · 06/12/2020 13:30

Btw i wouldn't necessarily follow local news to get an overall view. I was doing so earlier in the pandemic and they report daily figures and the difference between them but don't give the "revised" figures from previous days, as they are provisional for 3-5 days. The gov site is best for looking at overall pattern of data and you can look at your Local Authority by clicking the drop down arrow as well as all of the UK.

bathsh3ba · 06/12/2020 13:36

N Somerset and S Glos will only go down a tier if either they are separated from Bristol (currently the government treats them as one area) or Bristol drops low enough to go down.

Hapixmas · 06/12/2020 13:43

But according to the BBC article where you put your area in, North Somerset is 144 per 100K and Bristol are 168 per 100k..that is not a huge amount lower.

OP posts:
Hapixmas · 06/12/2020 13:44

Sorry 142 for North Somerset. South Gloucestershire are 145. So very close to Bristol figures really.

OP posts:
YewandOak · 06/12/2020 13:46

WsM,North Somerset here. Hopefully we'll go back down to tier 2 on the 16th. Work in a cafe so we're closed at the minute but when we get back into tier 2,we'll be able to open again. Fingers crossed.

bathsh3ba · 06/12/2020 13:49

@Hapixmas at the point at which the Tiers decision was made, Bristol figures were a good 150 per 100k more than N Somerset and S Glos.
