I posted on here the other day as my sons class had to self isolate for 2 weeks I had to keep all 3 of my children at hone because I had no one else to take the others, he has been back less than a week and now I’ve been told that his class have to self isolate again!!

In these circumstances I wonder if the Head Teacher or other member of staff could collect and return your two for the period. Ring school and see what support rhey can offer.

ScatteredMama82 · 04/12/2020 10:44

What a nightmare :( How old is your DS that has to isolate?
Do you drive? In these circumstances, could you drop the other 2 off at the gate, arranging to be met by a teacher so you don't need to get out of the car (assuming you have to take other DS with you too)?

Givemeabreak88 · 04/12/2020 10:52

No I don’t drive sadly, he is 8 but he is awaiting an assessment for autism so I’m not comfortable leaving him home alone as the school is just over a mile away so not that close and he is not really mature enough to be left alone. Just so frustrating really, they’ve only been back since Tuesday! The school has nothing in place for this and isn’t collecting siblings of children that have to isolate, maybe if we were closer they would have.

Honestly, I would just keep them all off and home school. The way your luck is going, it might prevent isolation or even illness over Christmas! Dear love you and the DC, how crap!

SirVixofVixHall · 04/12/2020 12:15

I would keep all three off too.

PurpleDaisies · 04/12/2020 12:16

That’s such rotten luck. Flowers

Scottishgirl85 · 04/12/2020 12:26

Of course you did right thing. But you shouldn't have done throat swab, just nose for a child of that age.

Givemeabreak88 · 04/12/2020 12:32

You’re all right best to keep them all off than risk it again with another one of their classes closer to Xmas, just about sad as school is the only break I get and I have a younger child so 4 at home in total. I was looking forward to the break again after 2 weeks stuck indoors but it’s for the best to keep them all off now.

You don't have any neighbours he could stay with for 20 minutes?

ScatteredMama82 · 04/12/2020 12:35

@DianaT1969

You don't have any neighbours he could stay with for 20 minutes?
That's not isolating though, kind of defeats the purpose!
DianaT1969 · 04/12/2020 12:36

Ah, I just realised he has potentially been exposed and can't sit with a neighbour. I assume you don't have school mum friends who can help?
The head teacher might be able to suggest something. You won't be the first parent in this situation.

icedaisy · 04/12/2020 12:37

Given its the second time now you really need to speak to the school again and see if there is any alternative at all.

Scottishgirl85 · 04/12/2020 12:44

Ignore my comment above, wrong thread!

I really feel for you. That's a ridiculous situation. Do any friends doing the school run live nearby? Flowers
