Christmas nights out with friends

Obviously outside, eating a scotch egg with your cocktail etc etc.🤣. Are people planning a few sociable gatherings or not bothering this year? Just curious.

Yes

Ive a few evenings set up before Christmas

superram · 03/12/2020 22:40

Went out yesterday, slightly ropey today.... wore thermals under my jeans and booth had heaters so was toasty. Had a great night.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/12/2020 22:44

Tier 3 so no hospitality venues open. I'm going to meet my book group for a walk in the week before Christmas and we'll have mince pies and mulled wine, but that's as far as my festive party plans have got. Bit shit really...

nex18 · 03/12/2020 22:49

Tier 3, can feel like a teenager again by meeting friends to drink in alleyways but with the obvious advantage of not needing fake ID. Merry Christmas!

goose1964 · 03/12/2020 22:55

We're all over the UK so we're doing Christmas for friends and family in the new year sometime

musicalfrog · 03/12/2020 23:14

Hell to the yeah!

Got a night out with friends planned in December, can't wait! Food, drinks and a band, who cares if we're cold? Layers people!

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 03/12/2020 23:18

Oooh youve just reminded me ive got a thermal top

Ginogineli · 03/12/2020 23:20

Yep tier 3 and I’ve got 4 nights planned at outdoor restaurants with heaters

Friends x 4-5

We all work in tier 2 and are tested every 6 days but even so I still would

PirateCatQueen · 03/12/2020 23:21

Nope. Zoom drinks for Xmas it is.

MoirasRoses · 03/12/2020 23:24

Yes! Tier 3 here & my street are having a little distanced Christmas social. Hot chocolates, mince pies, the kids can run around & we’ll have a SD natter. I live on a little culdisac, so it’s nice.

Meeting 5 friends in the park for joy chocolate & a walk.. & still attending a couple Christmas events with friends going on the same day. So we’ll meet for a little natter I’m sure. We’ll have to travel outside area but both are going ahead with no refunds soooo 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not wasting £50 each event! Both are entirely outdoors & also in tier 3 areas, so i don’t feel like I’m entering a lower covid area at least!

Gotta make the most of it. I don’t feel happy seeing anyone indoors this year, so outdoors it is!

Titsywoo · 03/12/2020 23:52

Yes! We are going for a walk then to a friends garden for a bonfire (6 of us) and some wine. Just a couple of hours but better than nothing and with a fire we can sit at a distance.

Titsywoo · 03/12/2020 23:52

When I say bonfire I mean firepit!

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 04/12/2020 06:48

No

Doesn’t seem sensible during a pandemic.
Would prefer not to have to wade through a third wave in January from people thinking it’s ok to mix because Covid won’t infect you as it’s Christmas.

Finfintytint · 04/12/2020 06:58

Level 4 here so bugger all happening. Lots of plans for next year though.

TheGreatWave · 04/12/2020 07:18

I was thinking old school style only. Could be fun.
BefuddledPerson · 04/12/2020 07:19

No, just having a year off as we wait for the vaccine.

ChasingRainbows19 · 04/12/2020 07:27

Tier 3 and in restrictions since July where we can’t meet up inside. I’ve been for walks with friends but that’s it. No Christmas plans. As nothing open! Also so used to not arranging anything it’s fine. Presents will be exchanged and we will catch up briefly outside etc.

Next year will be fun when we can finally get together properly!

bigbluebus · 04/12/2020 07:49

My usual Christmas get together with 2 friends will now be a walk with a flask of mulled wine and a hot chocolate and sandwich outdoors at Cafe at the end of the walk. Will probably meet up for walks with other friends over Christmas too but there'll be no indoor meet ups - we're not going to bubble with anyone and our DS will only return from Uni after 2 negative tests (keeping fingers crossed for his 2nd test tomorrow).

starfish4 · 04/12/2020 08:22

My friends are talking about a short meet up outside with mulled wine. Four of us work with children and we have a friend whose husband is very nervous about Covid, so she's usually about 5m away from us. Hope we can see her in the darkSmile. Our families will also get together on zoom New Year's Eve.

Will see another couple for a walk. The rest on zoom.

Jungfraujoch · 04/12/2020 17:12

Thanks for all the replies. I need to dig out my thermals! And those of you who are venturing out have a great time!!

Suzi888 · 04/12/2020 17:13

No, I’d rather see my mum. I don’t go out that much in any case.

Coasterfan · 04/12/2020 17:15

Tier 3 here so no sadly 😢

wimhoffbreather · 04/12/2020 17:17

Have one mini Christmas outdoor gathering planned, there will be four of us, we’re in tier two so it’s been arranged in a beer garden but who knows how long we’re gonna last in the cold!

That’s it though. Not even seeing family on Xmas day because of too many households and vulnerable relatives.

Jungfraujoch · 12/12/2020 10:22

So this is the sort of set up that my friends are proposing - still look a bit close together although outside under a tented roof. Am I silly to feel uncomfortable?!

Tier 3 here and cold and wet. I'd rather watch paint dry than socialise outside right now.
