I believe my DS16 may have had COVID in March but he was not tested. He had many of the symptoms and was very poorly. Today he was saying that he finds it really hard to remember things and after having a conversation about it he said it has been since he was ill that he has noticed it. Does anyone know if this could be true?

Yes it could be true. Well, he's telling you it's true! Look up symptoms of long covid, brain fog.

A friend of a friend died recently with Covid (was just found unconscious one day, taken to hospital, ventilated and died the next day). Her whole family were tested and they all had it. Most were asymptomatic but her parents became ill and were hospitalised. The mum is now home and dad due to come home soon. However, he is suffering memory loss to the degree that he remembers that his DD is dead but can't remember that her funeral has already been held.

Brain fog can arise from many things, including forms of post-viral syndrome. If it is impacting on his daily life (which it sounds like it is) then you should really talk to the GP. Although it is unlikely, it can be a symptom of some more serious conditions. There are also things that can be done about it, often just simple exercises to get the brain functioning better again.

If you google brain fog or cognitive dysfunction you'll find a lot of information, but do so cautiously - don't start panicking about the possible and rare things it can be associated with, because it could also be no more complicated a thing than he's a little stressed by all that has gone on this year. Stress is one of the most common causes of brain fog!
