DS has been sneezing through the night and woken with a snotty nose, no other symptoms , no issues with taste, no temp, feels fine other than a bit bunged up.

Mine had a high temperature, dizziness and fatigue, off his food.

I have seen others with children who tested positive post about cold/snotty symptoms though.

I know plenty of children who presented with 'just a cold'. I'd get a test.

frumpety · 03/12/2020 08:33

No cough at all , just a bunged up nose.

If no temp they won't test, cold symptoms have been known however with a temp or another symptom too. Hope he gets well soon

Isadora2007 · 03/12/2020 08:35

Lost her sense of smell but still had some taste.

frumpety · 03/12/2020 08:39

Temp is 37.4

I'd get a test.

Don't you need to have one of the 3 to test?

frumpety · 03/12/2020 08:51

He is self isolating due to school bubble bursting last week, otherwise wouldn't be concerned.

We have had a few children in my class test positive with a cold after our bubble burst. It was my first symptom along with a sore throat. As he has been in close contact I would test.

When did he last see anyone? Cold’s incubation periods are 24-72 hours generally, so if he hasn’t been at school for three days it’s unlikely to be a cold.

If you want to get a test you just say he has one of the symptoms when you fill in the form online. It’s obviously a waste of money to keep going to get tests, but if you have reason to think it may well be covid then I think it’s morally justifiable.

He hasn't been in direct contact with anyone else other than me , DH and DD since before the weekend.

He came to the supermarket with me at the weekend, we didn't find out about the need to self isolate until Sunday evening.

I’d test then. Good luck.
