Am I being paranoid to think of cancelling my routine dental check up tomorrow?

My teeth are fine, I don't know why I didn't cancel it?
I'm worried that it is an unnecessary risk of contracting covid and it's also an unnecessary risk of having to isolate if another patient gets covid
I don't mind paying because it will be too late for someone else to take my place.
Any advice?

Just go. Dentists are so well protected. If you don't likemy they won't see you for an emergency

PurpleDaisies · 02/12/2020 22:38

Go.

Dentists have worked really hard to make it safe. They’re highly qualified professionals.

Cannotcope4223 · 02/12/2020 22:42

Dentists are the BEST at this stuff. They should never have had to close during lockdown imo. Definitely go.

AliMonkey · 02/12/2020 22:43

I had the same debate and went and it felt probably safer than anywhere else I'd been.

Thanks, that's reassured me ... a bit.

I've been twice and it all seemed fine. Not one other person in the waiting room, everyone in masks and gloves.

Ibizababyy · 02/12/2020 23:48

Jeez they are the safest!? Wish someone would point that out to my dental practice that are only doing checkups for children still and emergencies. My Mat exemption will run out in March and I needed 5 fillings after my first baby, yet not a chance of an appointment!

Heatherjayne1972 · 03/12/2020 06:22

Please do come along.
We have worked so hard to keep everyone safe

Mind you we always did - don’t forget we see patients with all manner of conditions hepatitis/hiv etc all the time -we’ve worked for decades keeping patients safe

I’d even say we’re cleaner than some hospitals

Mindymomo · 03/12/2020 07:15

Both myself and my DH have had check ups and hygienist appointments in July and August. It felt as safe as it could be. They are seeing less patients and your appointment time will be longer due to them cleaning everything before and after your visit.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 03/12/2020 07:47

We’ve been to the dentist and it was very strict and felt as safe as it could be. We have avoided shops and will continue to do so due to the amount of people on and touch points.

UsernamesAreHardToThinkOf · 04/12/2020 11:08

I went and it was fine. Very strict procedures throughout.
No teeth cleaning being done by dentist as everything would require a major clean afterwards. I need to see a hygienist for that.

I actually need to see a dentist & haven't even tried to get an appointment because I thought they were like gold dust! Get yourself down there!

PickledRick · 04/12/2020 11:15

Please go to your appointment. My whole family are overdue on checkups, and our dentist is not carrying out routine appointments. If you have the opportunity to see your dentist, don't pass it up.

biologicaljiujitsu · 04/12/2020 11:21

Mine are still only doing emergencies only. I should have gone in June but still havent heard anything. I will only go once I have the vaccine. IN the meantime, I am brushing 3 times per day, flossing twice per day and using mouthwash at bedtime. I know of someone who has had 2 abscesses in lockdown and has not been able to get treatment

Paranoid much????Grin

AuntieMarys · 04/12/2020 11:24

I've been 4 times since June to the dentist/ hygienist. Feel completely safe.

rosie39forever · 04/12/2020 11:34

I've been 3 times recently and felt far safer there than in the supermarket,
