Vaccine trial ask me anything

I am on the vaccine trail since June I've had two doses as research shown half way a second dose is more effective, I will be told if I've had it or not when offered the vaccination (which will be soon as I'm a NHS front line worker) does anyone have any questions

Will you be monitored (and how long for) after the vaccine is in use to see what long term effects might be?

Do you know if there is research planned or in progress to see whether the vaccine prevents you from passing on the virus as well as preventing illness?

JaneJeffer · 02/12/2020 13:08

Were you scared?

EllenRipley · 02/12/2020 13:16

Was the risk of ADE discussed with you at any point?

@Bloodyfrostycar I will be monitored throughout 2021

I regularly have blood tests and basic observations completed and I self swab every week

@JaneJeffer I wasn't scared as I understand and trust the process and I am fit, healthy and know this would help and save so many lives

I am all for the vaccine, it's great news and wonderful how quickly it's come together. I am however petrified of needles, massively so, even typing this makes my chest go tight, did the vaccines hurt at all?

keeperswif · 02/12/2020 13:31

@EllenRipley yes but it is complicated as you can imagine I understand how he vaccination I had was based on a common cold and replicated to "fight" the coronavirus, I must admit I didn't understand a huge amount of it and this article Hmm... suffice to say I know there are some very intelligent people working on this and again I trust them to make safe effective decisions

It's important to note how quickly they have processed this and it's been out of necessity, COVID is a terrifying and horribly debilitating disease just looking at long COVID for example and they threw money, time and man power to make this happen and we should all be so grateful for that

OP posts:
keeperswif · 02/12/2020 13:34

@tinkerbellsays not at all

MrsMigginsMate · 02/12/2020 13:35

Which vaccine trial are you on?

PuzzledObserver · 02/12/2020 13:48

Have you grown a second head? Turned into a frog? Become totally disabled by a side effect that only emerged years later?

That’s what you’ve got to look out for. Not.

keeperswif · 02/12/2020 13:57

@MrsMigginsMate Oxford phiizer trial

keeperswif · 02/12/2020 13:58

Yes at the risk of derailing the thread here’s a thanks from me too! For health reasons I wouldn’t have been able to take part in trials anyway, but I’m so grateful to everyone who’s put themselves out to help advance knowledge on Covid-19. I think it’s really something to be proud of.
Keha · 02/12/2020 17:08

keeperswif · 02/12/2020 17:20
