Has anyone got any direct experience?
I haven’t got it...yet...but it’s now in the school I teach in, in my dc’s schools and also in the family so it’s just a matter of time I think.

Yes, DH is type 1 (49) and had covid. He's pretty fit and healthy in general and has good diabetic control.

He was far less ill than I was with covid! He had the chills and a temperature, extreme fatigue, lost his sense of smell and had a bit of a cough but not a continuous one. He has mild asthma too so but no extra breathlessness or anything.

He stayed in bed for about 3-4 days when the kids were in school and didn't feel 100% right for about 2 weeks after that but he works from home and was able to carry on with that after taking a week off because of the fatigue.

His blood sugar levels did go a bit up and down but that ALWAYS happens when he's unwell (or hungover jetlagged etc.....), even if he just has a bit of a cold they play up.

But honestly he sailed through it, I've known him have worse colds tbh.

I'm sure you would be fine too if you get it xxx

My friend had it with diabetes and comorbidities AND is terminally ill anyway. She overcame it.

My DB is T1 diabetic, tested positive last week mild flu like symptoms, bit of a temp for a few days. Fine now but still no taste/smell - very thankful as to be honest we were worried it would have been a lot worse!

My t1 had covid in March, he was wiped out with the high temperature for a few days, and was run down for a few weeks after with a horrendous cough.

His blood glucose ran high, we almost doubled up on basal, changed correction factor from 1u:6mmol to 3mmol and the illness setting on the bolus wasn't touching it, so all food went through on the premenstrual setting of +30%.......and we were still doing 2 hourly corrections.
