Tell me I'm being ridiculous and I can't possibly have it again

I tested positive on 4th November, felt quite rough, back to work, felt a bit weary 1st week back and fine last week. This week I am back to feeling quite rubbish, and the weird numb/menthol feeling in my mouth and nose. I certainly don't feel ill although to be fair I didn't before when I had it at first. I felt breathless today but not wheezy or struggling to breathe, just a bit puffy. I ran 5miles today and felt ok, but it felt hard work as it has done since the end of my isolation.

I am working from home this week, but I do work in a secondary school and we do have cases in school. How likely is it that this is a 'flare up' of my previous illness, or could this be a new infection?? I could totally understand cough or smell lingering for weeks, but to suddenly feel that numb/chemical burning nose feeling which I now recognise as how my symptoms started last time is scaring me to be honest.

Has anyone experienced this with recurring symptoms??

I should add to this post, I don't have any of the 3 'test worthy' symptoms

I thought you could show positive for 6 weeks after having Covid so even if you were to take a test it could be a misleading result ?

Get retested. It could be the virus wasn't properly cleared from your system. It may be positive if the virus has lingered or left dead RNA up you nose.

@Thirtyrock39 I've heard that too, 3-4 weeks until swabs show negative.

Don't know if it was covid but we had a bug after our Feb skiing trip. I couldn't have run a month after that so maybe it is just the recovery period.

Anosmia can take months to go unfortunately. I'd say you haven't recovered from the first bout. Try and take it easy.

nixpix · 30/11/2020 18:32

I think it's likely you are still recovering from the initial infection. I tested positive on the 6th November, went back to work then last week was off again with horrendous joint aches, which was one of my initial symptoms and bad sinus headaches again. I'm part of the ONS study and am tested every month and have just tested positive again, as it can take a while to clear your body, even if you are no longer contagious. Take it easy and try to get as much test as you can.

Sitdowncupoftea · 30/11/2020 18:45

I suspect it hasn't gone yet. A friend of mine was ill for two month with it. You can also catch it twice.

Quartz2208 · 30/11/2020 19:07

You are still suffering from the first lot - you pushed yourself too much and are back to feeling rough again it is definitely a flare up less than a month isnt enough time for your body to clear the virus
