Totally confused by children’s sport rules

I am in a tier 3 area. I just got two emails, one from hockey and one from tennis. The hockey one says that as people are not allowed to travel between areas, hockey is cancelled. The tennis one says that as people are allowed to travel for children’s sport the tennis competition is still on.

Who is right?

From what our football guidance said (also T3), children's outdoor sports can run in all areas, but it wouldn't count as 'essential travel' to travel to another tier for it, so it is 'advised against'. This is guidance not law and our league has left it to individual parents to decide if their child will attend where it means crossing a tier boundary.

For us, we don't have to cross a boundary so will be continuing to train. However I'll also be crossing the boundary to take my other DD to her drama class as in our ward, our levels are lower than the T2 town now, so it seems an arbitrary line.

I think the tennis people are right. However, we have national squad training (not tennis) next weekend and an email from the coach said 'we are aware some of you will not be able to attend'. So there is ongoing confusion.

I don’t think sport counts as a reasonable excuse to cross “tier borders” though I know in wales an exception was brought in for exactly for this purpose.
My kids activities are all in the local area and going ahead (tier 3), but I know of some (adult) activities in tier 2 nearby asking nicely that tier 3 folk stay away. There’s no legal “ban” though to my knowledge so probably up to individual providers.

The FA have said they are in dialogue with the government and will issue guidance.

Seems like nobody thought about it...

Ps neither is right. Hockey people are closer but it’s “not advised” not illegal.

I hope that they let ice skating happen. It is seasonal here, the rink is there but no one can use it (tier 3 but rates in borough per 100000 only just over 100).
