If one of you got it, did you all get it?

My son is three and tested positive yesterday. He was in contact with a positive case at nursery last week (isolating since Thursday) so we're not too surprised, he's doing ok so far.

We haven't been following the public health advice, I mean obviously he washes his hands and all that, but we are not keeping him separate from the rest of the family. He's only little, he wouldn't understand, and we have three children aged five and under in a small house, so it's just not possible. It's a risk we have accepted we are all taking, but I'm not making a poorly three year old eat by himself and not give him a cuddle etc.

Anyway, nobody else has symptoms yet but I expect we will all get it. I wondered if a member of your family tested positive and you didn't keep separate from them, did you all get it and how soon?

I tested positive but thankfully no one in my house did, I didn’t isolate myself from family as I had to homeschool as dh was wfh. My sister also didn’t isolate from her family as she has young kids, again thankfully they were all ok. I have a strong feeling covid is genetically linked.

My neighbour’s family got covid but only the 3 brothers and sister got it and a few of their kids, none of the partners did.

No.

Yes. Teenage DC got it first and like you, I wasn't leaving them alone feeling ill.

DH and I then both got it.

I got it, then DH. DD (age 2) had a temp for a day but tested negative.

One child tested positive with very very mild symptoms. Myself and other child tested negative. As far as I know, none of us ever caught it.

I know a family where the daughter had covid and they honestly thought they were going to lose her. She lived with her parents. The mum got tested and didn't have the antibodies and tested negative (even though she cared for her daughter). The dad tested positive for the antibodies but had no symptoms

Yes we all got it but only 2 of us were ill, DS was asymptomatic....

Me and Dh tested positive last week (had cold like symptoms not Covid but we work in an area that is currently top of U.K. infections)
Neither dd have any symptoms although dd2 did have a stinking cold the other week going on what we’ve had I would bet money that she had it and passed to us.dd1 I believe had it back in March and considering the amount of positive cases in her bubble at school and in October she spent the day at thorpe park with boyfriend who tested positive 2 days later and still no signs from her age so either had it when we thought or she’s randomly super immune!

Her boyfriends mum was poorly with it where as him and his dad tested positive his sister tested negative and they all live in same house?

My son coughed in my face the day he had symptoms! Tested positive the next day, 14 days isolation for me and his brother and no symptoms for either of us! We didn't distance in the house...

Just a quick update - we all (apart from the DS who has Covid) still have no symptoms. He started with symptoms on Thursday and tested positive on Saturday.

I feel a bit ropey today but was up most of the night with the baby so I think it's just that...
