Would you go to a hospital appointment in tier 3?

We live in tier 2, hospital (not our local one) is in tier 3. Dc (aged 7) and I are both CV. I am also an unpaid carer so really can't afford to be ill. Hospital appointment is for dc. Appointment is with genetics to give us the results of tests he had 6 years ago. So could be life changing or could be nothing. I've asked for the appointment to be on zoom or telephone but been told no. They normally do clinics in our local hospital but can't at the moment due to covid. So we have a choice of going to a tier 3 area or waiting for about a year for an appointment at our local hospital. Appointment is next week and I don't know what to do.

Thankyou. Really nervous now and worried they will tell us something awful. Appointment is on Friday so not long to wait now. Ds is happy to be going out in the car with mummy and daddy (only one of us allowed in so dh is going to wait in the car). Thankfully he doesn't mind not doing anything fun while we are there. I'm looking forward to the time when we can safely do all the things he likes doing again.

Yes go. I’ve had to go to a and e twice recently. I was impressed by distancing, and other measures in place. everyone issued with new face mask on entry (required to remove/throw old one etc).
Clinic waiting areas are often shifted to outside distanced queues so be prepared for that.

Sounds really important - although odd can’t be done by phone (?) and not something you should delay.
Good luck op

Thankyou everyone.

Well, we went and it felt very safe inside the hospital. I'm glad we didn't go anywhere else though as we drove through the town centre and it was heaving with people which I didn't expect in a tier 3 area.

The dr said that the results of the tests are in but they are inconclusive. They warned us that this might happen when we had the test originally. He has some variations in his dna but they aren't sure what this means yet. The dr took photos of him to update their records as the ones they've got were taken when he was 1. The dr said that at the moment the technology isn't available to do further testing but she will let us know when they can do more.

Thankyou. Mostly I just feel relieved that it's over and they didn't tell me something awful.
