I go into nursing homes and want to be vaccinated. I had the antibody test and was negative.

The plan, as it is for health and social care staff, is that they are vaccinated by hospital vaccination teams. GPs are focused on over 80’s and only do a few health care people to use up vaccine. These are known contacts for them. But the GP call is from their patient lists. This won’t identify your job so they won’t call you in for a vaccine.

The problem is that whilst the NHS can collect lists of people employed in NHS organisations and social services it doesn’t have lists of private or non NHS health and social care staff. What they will do is start to identify those people via a variety of contact routes and build a call list to pass to the vaccinating site. Which will probably be the Hospital Trust. It’s work in progress but they haven’t been forgotten or not prioritised. The work goes faster if they don’t have to answer queries from all and sundry on when they will get vaccinated.

What people need to stop doing is calling GPs and anyone they can think of asking when they will be called. Care homes and over 80’s have not been offered vaccines yet. They come first for GP sites. Staff are via hospitals. But don’t phone the hospital. That’s not how it works. You won’t get an appointment.

I have no faith in the government to cross reference the hcpc register to find me or any other hcp.

My governing society are lobbying for all hcp to be offered a vaccine regardless of who they work for.
