Awkward doctor

My grandson was sent home from daycare due to a persistent cough. My daughter was advised that he needed to have a covid test. After ringing a walk in centre she was told a doctor would come out and visit him. They said that its not covid and that his asthma has got worse. He has been put on a new inhaler for it. The problem is that my grandson can't go back to daycare without proof he hasn't needed a covid test & the doctors are refusing to send her proof to show that he didn't need a test stating just tell them its his asthma. Doesn't my daughter have the right to demand her sons medical records?

Why doesn’t she just book him a Covid test? She didn’t need to go to the dr, or ring the walk in centre. Just book.

Are you in the UK? Your use of the word daycare makes me think otherwise.

Brighterthansunflowers · 27/11/2020 19:13

Is she in the UK? If so she can request a test online as he has potential symptoms, either a drive through or home test

Hayeahnobut · 27/11/2020 19:13

He still needs to have a test. The doctor cannot categorically state he doesn't have the virus, even if it is more than likely his asthma causing the cough. Could you imagine the uproar if the nursery allowed him back and it turned out he did have it?

Char2015 · 27/11/2020 19:28

That was very irresponsible of the doctor to say it's just his asthma. The doctor cannot be 100% sure it's not covid. Your daughter/grandson and other household members needs to isolate and get him tested. Shocking that the doctor didn't suggest this.

SpamIAm · 27/11/2020 19:35

They just need to get him tested.

DeeandraReynolds · 27/11/2020 19:36

She doesn't need to speak to a doctor about booking a test. It is good that he sorted the inhaler though! I'm sure the doctor is right tbh. We've just had to take our dd for a covid test which came back negative, as we fecking knew it would, but yeah...you do have to test. It's the way it is at the moment!

Are you in the UK?

MadameButterface · 27/11/2020 19:44

The doctor can’t give you proof that he hasn’t got coronavirus because he hasn’t been tested for coronavirus. He needs to get tested.

A house visit ?

Pomegranatespompom · 27/11/2020 19:55

It‘s quite clear when listening to a chest if asthma exacerbation.
I would imagine not here if you got a home visit. Btw I wouldn’t say the dr was awkward, he rightly can’t tell you something is negative if the test hasn’t been done. Just book a test if you are still concerned.

Home visits for cough? Bloody hell, great way to get all the GPs catching coronavirus.
