Self isolating - length? Urgent please

Hi

If a teacher is off school and subsequently tests positive for Covid, how long would her class children be off for? 2 weeks from the positive result? Or two weeks from the date of the teacher being off poorly?

The reason I'm asking - my eldest sons sibling (from his Dad) has been self isolating due to her teacher being tested positive. My ex strangely sent me a copy of the email from school stating the positive test, it was dated the 16th. All children sent home that day. So should DS's sister be self isolating until next Tuesday ? Or as the teacher had been off work since the end of the previous week, does SI end today?

Ex is having the sister, her brother (who she lives with), and potentially DS this weekend. DS is 17, I have limited contact with his Dad as I leave them to it, but I'm unimpressed if his Dad has cut short self isolation rules.

Thanks!

The isolation will start from the day they last had contact with the teacher. So will end 14 days after the teacher was last in school.

It’s 14 days from when they had contact with the teacher last.

Two weeks from symptoms or last contact. So if teacher was last in on the Friday then 14 days from then.

Oh ok good! Unfortunately I wouldn't put it past either Ex or his other children's mum to make up their own rules Hmm, but on this occasion they're doing it right

Thanks everyone!
