Is it possible that you may test negative for covid, but then still develop symptoms in your 14 day isolation period?

Yes, you can have a false negative test, particularly if it wasn’t performed properly. The nose swab should puncture your nasal mucosa and hurt, the throat swab should be far enough back and firm enough to make you gag.
When I was hospitalised with Covid, the doctor on the Covid unit was repeating everyone’s tests as the nurses were being too gentle and getting a lot of false negatives.

Or can I stop isolating if I've been in contact with someone with covid but then have a negative test?

Sorry I wrote that before I saw your response x

Thank you! I can imagine this being a big problem with people doing the tests themselves, when I went the poster in front of you said it should be uncomfortable but not hurt which probably deters people from doing it too far 🙄

No, you need to isolate for the full 10 days (not 14) regardless of a negative test as you are in the incubation period

I did but what a weird thread to revive, I always wonder what leads to such randomness
