Bubbling between tiers

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but:

My partner and I live in Kent (tier 3) & Sussex (tier 2) respectively, just across the border from one another. He lives alone and I’m a single parent, so we’re one another’s support bubble.

I’m aware it’s recommended that you bubble with someone locally to prevent long journeys, but we ARE quite close by - just in different counties and different tiers.

I’ve been through the gov.uk guidance and can’t find anything about support bubbles travelling between tiers, other than to give care to someone sick or vulnerable.

Any ideas?!

Thanks Smile

Support bubbles are allowed to continue. I’m a similar position at a tier 2/3 border too. I can’t find an official answer but I’d just keep doing what you’re doing.

Thanks Purple, I think that’s exactly what we’ll do unless told otherwise Smile

Me too. My sister is my bubble and she's tier 3. I'm tier 2. We're 90 minutes apart so only see each other every month or so at the most anyway.

We've decided we're probably still ok but that:
I will do the travelling and she will stay in her tier as per guidance.
I will behave as a tier 3 person when with her and for 2 weeks afterwards.
We will continue to keep visits infrequent - haven't seen her since Oct half term and will next see her Christmas Day.

That sounds a eminently sensible approach Manic

Hope you and your sister have a lovely Christmas together
