If your DC had coronavirus, did you catch it from him/her/them?

Just that really. Curious about whether anyone has managed to avoid catching covid when in the same house as someone (especially a child) has tested positive. If so, did you socially distance at home?

Thanks!

NotAKaren

It’s very strange in addition to DS, we also has a visitor who was positive stay here and nobody caught it.

I’m hoping it’s due to natural immunity in the population as that would be a massive help.

Four of us in the house. 2 adults and a 4 and 6 year old. One adult and the 4 year old are positive - tested on Friday and results on Saturday.
The child had a temperature and exhaustion (fell asleep at every opportunity) and ate nothing for a day then bounced right back.
Adult still experiencing severe fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lack of appetite and wobbly legs.
The other adult and the 6 year old tested negative and are trying to keep a distance but it's hard.

@middleager DC is 8. Unfortunately I’ve developed clear covid symptoms and am awaiting the results of a covid test...

I don't think the notion of other households not catching a virus is specific to Covid. I have been vomited over by my DCs and my niece and not caught norrovirus. It is odd how it goes though isn't it? I think the immune system is still a bit of a mystery to us all.

I'm sorry to hear that @Bulblasagnes. I hope you recover very quickly.

I'm sorry to hear this too and hope you get better soon.

Yes, I did but husband didn't. 2 out of 3 of our teens had it last month.

I’ve tested positive but fortunately dh is still well and can hold the fort for the family. Such a relief that one of us is ok.

Well take care. How are you feeling in yourself (as my dear old man used to say)?

Bulblasagnes · 27/11/2020 18:17

It’s day 3 for me and I’m already feeling much better. I had typical flu symptoms for the first two days, whereas today it’s mostly just aches and pains. Hoping I’m on the way to recovery but I keep hearing you can get better and then worse again?!

Good news that you might be improving. My son's temperature has fluctuated through the week so don't rush, hopefully this is it and then whatever passes for normality these days will return. Take care.
MadauntofA · 27/11/2020 18:22

I felt the same - flu like and awful headaches for a couple of days, then better, then heavy cold like symptoms for a few days. Paracetamol needed throughout. I hope you have an easy run

spagbog5 · 27/11/2020 18:26

We are sure DD 15 had it at the end of February but no testing then.
She had raging temp, strange taste ,awful headache, slept for hours, then developed an awful dry cough.
We didn't catch anything neither did DD 23 who had just had major surgery the week before and came home from 3 weeks in hospital the week DD developed symptoms Confused

Bulblasagnes · 27/11/2020 21:25

Thanks everyone. I’ve been gradually feeling better since Thursday late morning, so I’m really hoping this is it but time will tell!
