Vaccine and breastfeeding

Are breastfeeding women okay to have the vaccine? I haven’t heard anything one way or the other but wondered if anyone here had any knowledge on the subject?

I've thought about this too as I'm TTC. In fact, I was scheduled to take part in the Imperial vaccine trial, and it stated that pregnancy should be avoided for 18 weeks after receiving the 2nd jab. It was the recent I didn't do it in the end.

I've been trying to imagine if I'm still TTC by the time I'm eligible, whether to go for it.

If you look up the Breastfeeding Network Drugs in Breastmilj Information Service on Facebook Wendy Jones who is the pharmacist and a complete medication and breastfeeding Guru has recently posted that there just isn't the information yet but once vaccines are licensed and she has more information she will post it so I would follow their page and keep an eye out.

I'm interested in this as baby due in Spring, I assume there'll be no testing either way to say if its safe or not. I'm keen to be vaccinated, I don't know enough about vaccines to know if you pumping and dumping for a short time could be an option?
Otherwise I guess we are dependant on other people and herd immunity

Thanks for the replies, it’s difficult to know, isn’t it. I’m desperate for the Covid vaccine so I suppose if necessary I would consider weaning for this reason. (My DC is a toddler on three meals a day though, I understand it’s more complicated for people to who are nursing young babies) Hopefully we might get some clarity soon.

I've wondered this too, as I'm due in Feb and so if they really are going to vaccinate all adults by the end of April I'd expect and hope to be breastfeeding in that window. I could only find a couple of references, but they're both to vaccines not being tested in 'pregnant and breastfeeding women' and so not being licensed for them, eg:

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/6352679002

Realistically, though, I'm sceptical that they'll really be offering the vaccine to healthy 33 year old women next spring, and so I'm not that confident I'll be getting it whether or not I'm breastfeeding. It's more of a concern for pregnant women as there is some evidence they're more vulnerable.
