Is there any risk to having a vaccine if you’ve had covid?

As above. If you suspect you’ve had it & it’s been asymptomatic or not confirmed by a test would it do any harm to have the vaccine?

No. That would have been picked up in the vaccine trials if there was an issue. I'm a scientist with a PhD in immunology and 20 years experience in the pharma industry, some of which was working on vaccines.

Thank you

How about if you were part of trials and already had the vaccine so getting a double dose ?

The trials are blinded with a placebo so you have no way to know which you got

Once the study has been "unblinded" then the researchers would know who had which vaccination and could advise accordingly.

A double dose is fine anyway, it's just pre-exposing your body to part of the virus to train the immune system so you respond faster to an actual infection. Each time you are exposed to either the vaccine or the virus your body gets better at fighting it off but we know that 2 doses is generally sufficient to ensure most people mount an adequate response. Additional doses of vaccine will do no harm, any more than being exposed to the virus will. There is a lot of worry from the antivaxers about excipients and adjuvants but they are used in many vaccines and medicines and have a long safety history.

Interesting, thanks

I registered for trials and if I had been selected they said once I was offered a vaccine they would be able to check if I had had a vaccine or placebo but depending on which vaccine I was being offered I might be advised to have it even if I had had their vaccine.

What if you had covid at the same time as you got the vaccine? Like within a couple of days?

@CountFosco

A question on adjuvants. Does the full list of ingredients in proprietary adjuvants have to be listed on the vaccine prospectus as well? Say CpG 1018 adjuvant from Dynavax being used by Valneva to develop their Covid vaccine?
