If you have a child under 1 in England you can form a support bubble

It appears that if you’re in England and have a child under 1 you will be able to form a support bubble with another household from Dec 2. Doesn’t matter how many other adults are in your household. It can also be across tiers.

This also applies if you have a child under 5 with a disability that requires ‘continuous care’.

You can also find the info as point 10c of the Covid Winter Plan on the gov.uk site

Sorry if this has already been shared, I haven’t seen it but may have missed it in which case I apologise.

I hope it’s good news for some people, it is for us.

I'd imagine it's a bit of a lifeline for new mothers on maternity leave. It's a lonely enough time without not even being able to mix with someone outside of your home.

Such brilliant news, I cried when I heard this. I was so scared of our area going into Tier 2 and being isolated again but now at least we can form a bubble with one household!

Glad to see postnatal mental health being prioritised!

Can i ask what its meant by 'continuous care' child under 5 with disability?

I’m not sure either, sounds odd as pretty sure ALL children under 5 require continuous care - tried Googling but it just comes up with ‘continuing care’ packages from the NHS which I guess is different.

Yes also wondering what is "continuous care"....

Not that I have any family local to bubble with anyway.... and wouldn't want to expose her to friends who also have their own children. 🤷‍♀️

I think it would be child on at least middle rate care DLA - so needing a very high level of support throughout the day or a child with continuous medical needs.
