I just feel so desperately fed up. NHS worker in the north west of England. Was feeling ok, feeling a glimmer of hope recently. But after the news today I just feel completely depressed, potentially no socialising indoors for months? I just can’t do this

Yep I feel the same fed up of this shit now .
I'm also in north west too but is it Thursday we wait to see what tier we are in ?

Justcurious93 · 23/11/2020 18:35

Yeah, Tier 2 would be much better but think it’s still no mixing of households? Hope I’m wrong though Smile

Tier 3 is getting mass testing though. Seems to have really worked in Liverpool where it doesn't sound like they will be going back into tier 3?

Justcurious93 · 23/11/2020 18:38

I hope not 🤞

I hope so too .
shinynewapple2020 · 23/11/2020 18:49

There is no indoor mixing in tier 2 either .

My area stayed in Tier 1 for weeks whilst our numbers went up and up. One week of tier 2 before lockdown . Pretty much no doubt we will go back into Tier 3 .

The only difference I can see between current lockdown and tier 3 is opening of non essential shops and leisure centres .

Hugosmugo · 23/11/2020 18:52

I'll believe the mass testing when I see it. So many areas will be in tier 3, I can't see them doing it!

I feel down too op. Really down :(

backaftera2yearbreak · 23/11/2020 18:53

I’m in Midlothian. All week we’ve been told we were going to tier 2 tomorrow. About 5 hours ago wee nippy changed her mind. Loads of businesses took staff out if furlough, had tables booked, bought at stock. It’s a ducking disgrace and the Scottish government should hang their heads in shame at what they’ve just done 😡

Gobacktothe90s · 23/11/2020 18:54

I'm in northwest and think because we have been in tier 3 forever people will just think fuck it now at Xmas with the 5 day grace.
It would be much better to allow sensible mixing indoors than keeping people restricted since March then allowing 5 day grace period at Xmas

backaftera2yearbreak · 23/11/2020 18:54

Fucking disgrace. So angry I canny type.

Justcurious93 · 23/11/2020 19:01

Completely agree Sad

Completely agree Sad it’s just not feasible to expect people to not mix at all.

I agree too , part of me thinks fuck it but I'm really fed up of it all .
Those that have been ignoring all along will anyway and those like me who have been following the rules are now thinking nah I'm done .
With nothing to look forward too , i feel really down .

Tbh I think it's kind of hard to say at this stage whether it helped in Liverpool - cases were falling rapidly anyway, then there was a small bump when mass testing was introduced before they started falling again as before. It'll be easier to see the effect in areas where infection rates are rising or staying steadily high.
psychomath · 23/11/2020 19:34

Sorry I don't mean to be negative! I do think it has a lot of potential to help bring cases down rapidly in places where they're high. It's just that Liverpool was perhaps not the most useful place to pilot the scheme.

PurpleDaisies · 23/11/2020 19:37

Tier 2/3 allowed mixing outside before. I’m sure there will be that again.

Justcurious93 · 23/11/2020 19:38

Sorry lots of you are feeling the same :( it’s just so disheartening isn’t it when you’ve been following the rules all along. I have to go into work and mix with lots of people (which I’m happy to do and grateful to have a job) but then struggling that I can’t meet a friend for a coffee or give my mum a hug Sad

To be honest I can handle no indoor socialising - it’s the not being able to sit in A private garden that is my breaking point (Tier 3). My parents are very vulnerable and can’t go traipsing into the park to meet. However they can sit indoors at their bay window with it ope. while I sit in the garden 5M away and we have a brew and a chat.

AlwaysLatte · 23/11/2020 19:45

Hang in there, such fantastic news with the vaccines - really could have been so different, no breakthrough for years. We'll get there! 💐

Justcurious93 · 23/11/2020 19:48

I’m hoping AlwaysLatte Smile I probably sound really selfish bleating on about socialising but I’m really struggling now

OP posts:
IncidentsandAccidents · 23/11/2020 19:57

@DarceyDashwood in your position, I would carry on doing that. You wouldn't be putting anyone at risk and I'm sure it would be of huge benefit to both you and your parents. The only issue would be someone reporting you - hopefully no-one would be quite that mean spirited...
