my parents have just tested positive last time we had contact was on saturday (they are part of my bubble) i am now worried sick about my kids getting it. My son is nearly 2 and my daughter is 6. We are obviously isolating btw!
please share stories of any covid experiences would be helpful.

Hi OP must be a worrying time for but in regard to the DC they are overwhelmingly likely to be just fine even if they were to catch it. I’ve had positives twice at home, once from a visitor and once from my older DS, both times nobody else caught it. Hope all is ok

Zem74 · 23/11/2020 16:30

Following as I’m waiting for test results for my 2 year old. She’s feeling very hot and very lazy/sleepy and off her food and I’m so worried she might have itSad

lemis123 · 23/11/2020 18:35

Still waiting results. If they are negative I’ll get her straight to GP as she’s very poorly. The only other time I’ve seen her this bad was with tonsillitis and that put her in hospital she was so poorly. I know GP won’t see her with a temp and no negative result

Toddlerteaplease · 24/11/2020 14:53

Paediatric nurse here. All the children I've known catch it have been asymptomatic.

Zem74 · 24/11/2020 14:58

@Toddlerteaplease that’s so reassuring to hear because I am clinically vulnerable and shielding, but obviously she’s not left my side for 48 hours so I worry about me catching it if it’s COVID too!
I’ve spoken to GP and getting a call back this afternoon. Just wish the results would hurry back because if she’s negative I really want her checked over for her ears tonsils etc

Toddlerteaplease · 24/11/2020 15:04

I'm
Also CEV decided not to shield and carried on working. I did get it, but it really wasn't that bad.

TheStripes · 24/11/2020 15:15

When did your parents first have symptoms and how much contact did they have?

DD1 is currently at home in isolation because a teacher and TA in her class have tested positive. Almost at the end of the two weeks now and she is either asymptomatic or hasn’t caught it. Exactly the same situation with all 29 others in her class. Two other bubbles have isolated since the start of term and none of the other children have gone on to catch it. I can’t predict for your children but hopefully that will ease your mind that catching it isn’t a foregone conclusion.

I hope your parents are ok and make a speedy full recovery.

Zem74 · 24/11/2020 15:40

@Toddlerteaplease youve made me feel so much better about it all. Thank youSmile

lemis123 · 24/11/2020 17:01

i really hope she is ok. The worst feeling in the world is when something is wrong with your child, try not to worry my son aswell had an ear infection which then lead to tonsilitis and also had an allergic reaction to pencillin but as soon as they get her started on the right meds she will be fine. Keep us updated and make sure you look after yourself Smile

My son had a headache, sore throat and was fatigued enough to take himself back to bed (literally never happens) and my daughter was asymptomatic. Just keep an eye for signs of illness but it is unlikely to be anything but mild.

PrivateD00r · 24/11/2020 20:00

I would be far more concerned for your parents! Are they ok?? Can you be sure your dc didn't pass it to them? DC can be asymptomatic spreaders!

lemis123 · 24/11/2020 20:43

my parents are ok they are both 40 years old with no underlying health conditions, i think my dad is passed the worst stage he had it very mildly a mild cough runny nose sneezing and loss of senses and complained of chest pain one night however his senses and starting to come back and hes well enough to do 100 push ups every morning which is great! my mum is ending her 6th day since first symptoms. she first thought she has a cold, until she started getting a tummy ache and lost her senses, she is quiet not herself which worries me but shes saying shes feels fine just complains of very bad back pain (is this normal?) and joint pain. BTW neither have any fever.

Time2change2 · 24/11/2020 20:52

I’m glad your parents are ok OP but was that a typo about being 40? So they were grandparents at 34? That’s so young to be a grandparent but how cool for the grandkids to have such young grandparents and for you to have such young parents also!

ZenNudist · 24/11/2020 21:14

Most recent case in ds's year 2 class was a spike in temp one night that was all. She was fine but the mum got her tested and lo the whole class were isolated!

The rest of the dc with it at school have been asymptomatic.

My friend is a nurse so her whole family 3 dc aged 7 to 14 got it in March. She said they had a few days in bed with flu like symptoms.

MoirasRoses · 24/11/2020 21:48

My best friends little boy had it recently (aged 3). He had a fever for an hour, two episodes of an upset stomach that evening & woke up right as rain and no further symptoms for the entire two weeks of isolation 🙈 my friend said it was hell as he was climbing the walls!

Hope your little one is ok 😊

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 25/11/2020 07:17

DS eighteen months at the time, had it in March (tested) ended up being blue lighted into hospital, but that was because his fever spiked at 40 and just would not respond to paracetamol etc. He was only in hospital Oct night, fine in less than a fortnight and over the fever in a few days, the cough lingered for a bit

EasttoWest · 25/11/2020 07:26

Friend’s daughter in my DC class had it. High temp (hallucinations) - headache and vomiting. Lasted about 2 days then she was fine - got her tested cos of the high temp. Of course she then got covid too! But all ok now.
