Healthy over 70's, regardless of any relaxation in the restrictions are you taking the approach of not seeing your children / grandchildren until you receive a vaccination?

Absolutely no judgement either way from me but I just wondered how common this approach is. This is the approach my parents have taken and it's obviously what feels right for them (fair enough) and I wondered if this is quite common?

My mum is in her mid-70s and fit and healthy. Pre-lockdown she came up on the train every week. We stopped all that at the beginning of March and we have spent two weeks with her since then. We isolated for 2 weeks prior to visiting on each occasion. She doesn't drive so we can't meet up outdoors midway between our houses, or I'm sure we'd be doing that.
Technically we are her support bubble but she says she'll see us once she can get the jag and until then there's Zoom and phone calls. She was prepared to have to wait it out for 2 years and is delighted that it looks like the vaccine will be here much sooner. It is her choice and I respect it and support it. She hates not feeling useful in the world and she misses DS, and she is very aware that none of us is promised tomorrow. But she says on balance she doesn't want to play Russian roulette with Covid-19 when, fingers crossed, she hopefully has a few more good years left if she can get through this bit. It's not just the risk of becoming one of the mortality statistics; she got post-viral fatigue in her 50s and it was years before she recovered a decent level of health and energy, so with that experience in mind, she doesn't much fancy the risk of long Covid either.
