NHS STAFF - are you getting the vaccine?

Just interested. I’m a nurse on a ward and I will be getting it as soon as I can. However I worked in research for 5 years and know how strict clinical trials really are - I understand not everyone with that background would be as trusting of new drugs being developed. Where do you work, and what will you do about the vaccine?

Nhs operational manager
A bit of patient contact but not on wards but cannot wait for the vaccine - hopefully it will be a game changer.

I will definitely have it. Cancer nurse working in haematology/oncology with the most at risk patients. I also have health concerns myself so will be glad to have it from a selfish point of view also.

Thanks for all the replies! This thread isn’t an advertisement for the vaccine Hmm I’m a nurse and I’m tired of being scared all the time. Of course I’m scared of having a vaccination that’s new but I’ve lost colleagues to covid and I don’t want to be the next one. I’m not an expert either but I believe the coronavirus trials are ongoing? And the vaccine was developed from a vaccine that already existed? The flu jab is different every year, altered with whatever strains are prevalent and I don’t worry about the side effects from those despite them not being around for more than a year!

@Aztectrousers

BungleandGeorge that’s what I would like to see clarified because if you can still spread it then presumably you would still have to isolate if you caught it. I will be following developments with interest.
I saw/read something the other day that was explaining how they can't know that for sure until lots of people have been vaccinated. Which makes sense I guess, I had just assumed they'd have been able to learn the answer through testing, but apparently not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not a NHS or healthcare worker myself but was interested to read everyone's views and just wanted to say I hope SO much that you all get your vaccinations as soon as possible!
