Isolation and sequential COVID infections

DD lives in a household of 6. They have been self isolating for 10 days, so far, following one person having a positive test. Now another person has symptoms. Does the clock start again? Could they just be in a loooong cycle of isolations as it passes through the house.

T&T have been useless and told them to self-isolate til last Monday ( just 3 days after the girl developed symptoms) ! Which is bizarre, but they've done the right thing. It just means that they don't really trust the advice, and haven't heard anything yet anyway.

No, it only starts again for anyone who then develops symptoms - they must isolate for a further 10 days. Everyone else sticks to their original 14.

However once her 14 days ends and she stops isolation, any further positive cases start again as a new period of isolation unfortunately.

Thanks, that confirms what she thought. She was imagining being locked up til January!! No symptoms apart from loss of smell in the two affected thank goodness.

That's really clear, thanks. I've sent it to her.
